PM Concentrate

DESCRIPTION

PM CONCENTRATE is a fiber reinforced, gray cement based, factory blended mixture designed as a cement plaster base coat requiring only the addition of sand and water on the job site.

PM CONCENTRATE NF is a gray cement based, factory blended mixture designed as a cement plaster base coat requiring the addition of sand, fibers (for crack resistance) and water on the job site.

PM CONCENTRATE WS is a fiber reinforced, gray cement based, factory blended mixture designed as a cement plaster base coat requiring only the addition of water on the job site. The sand is in the mixture.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Fire resistance
Superior bonding
Excellent workability
Rot & fungus resistant
A hard, durable surface
Greater crack resistance

COMPONENTS

PM CONCENTRATE is made up of gray cement, hydrated lime, fiber strands and other additives that enhance the performance of the product.

PM CONCENTRATE NF is made up of gray cement, hydrated lime and other additives that enhance the performance of the product.

PM CONCENTRATE WS is made up of gray cement, hydrated lime, fiber strands, silica sand and other additives that enhance the performance of the product.

All components in the manufacturing of PM CONCENTRATE, PM CONCENTRATE NF and PM CONCENTRATE WS meet the standards set forth in ASTM
C-926-98a.USES

PM CONCENTRATE and PM CONCENTRATE WS are the products of choice when a superior cement plaster coating is desired. They have exceptional workability and the fiber reinforcing strands greatly reduce the possibility of cracking.

PM CONCENTRATE NF is the product of choice when the applicator chooses to be responsible for the addition of most ingredients on the job site that constitute a viable cement plaster base coat.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surfaces to be plastered should be inspected by the contractor and any unsatisfactory conditions should be reported and corrected prior to the application of PM CONCENTRATE, PM CONCENTRATE NF or PM CONCENTRATE WS. All flashings, hangers, fasteners, trim or other fixed supports shown on the plans, should be in place prior to application of base coat. Dust, dirt or loose particles should be removed from concrete or masonry surfaces prior to application. Masonry surfaces should be uniformly moistened before the application of either product. These products should not be applied to surfaces that contain frost. Provisions should be made to keep the products at a temperature of 45°F (7°C) to 100°F (38°C) during application and for a period of at least 48 hours after application.

Adicote bonding agent must be applied to all poured concrete or smooth concrete surfaces. Control and/or expansion joints should be installed in accordance with ASTM C-1063-99 to alleviate cracking from building component movement, shrinkage or stress. Location of control joints must be determined by the designer.

APPLICATION

Note: The effectiveness of these products depend upon proper application, curing and the conditions and preparation of the surface to which they are applied. PM CONCENTRATE, PM CONCENTRATE NF and PM CONCENTRATE WS should be applied to wire lath by sections in 1 or 2 coats to a minimum of 3/8" thickness using sufficient pressure to form a good bond. If a finish coat is desired use a factory prepared, pigmented mix such as any of the colored stucco products manufactured by PREMIX-MARBLETITE MFG. CO. or a synthetic finish coat, such as that manufactured by ACROCRETE, INC. The finish coat must be applied according to the application specifications for the finish selected. To avoid abrupt changes in the uniform appearance of the succeeding coats, each coat must be applied to an entire wall or ceiling panel without interruptions. The joining of wet cement plaster should be made at naturally occurring interruptions such as corners, control joints or structure levels; otherwise, the stopping and starting joints may be visible through the finish coat. Just prior to the application of the finish coat, the brown coat should be uniformly dampened to attain uniform suction.

CURING

It is essential that the applied cement plaster be kept moist until setting and hardening has occurred. Proper hydration requires sufficient water, favorable temperatures and time. Moist curing (fogging) is necessary because the large exposed surfaces permit rapid evaporation of the water used in the mixing process. Proper curing will develop maximum strength and density. Newly installed walls should be protected from hot/dry winds or excessive ventilation. The temperature of the walls must be maintained above 45°F (7°C) and below 100°F (38°C) for no less than 48 hours after application. After application, the cement plaster should be considered as a thin section of Portland cement concrete.

MAINTENANCE

If the finish coat is an integrally colored stucco such as the ones manufactured by PREMIX-MARBLETITE MFG. CO. or a synthetic finish coat, such as that manufactured by ACROCRETE, INC. occasional pressure washing between 500 and 1,000 p.s.i. should produce satisfactory results.

LIMITATIONS

These products are not considered waterproofing products.
These products are cement based and as such, cracking is not considered a product defect and is not warrantable.
Too much water or over wetting the mix will result in separation, texture
variation, low strength and cracking.
