PM Concentrate WR

DESCRIPTION

PM CONCENTRATE WR is a factory blended, fiber reinforced, cement mixture designed to be a highly water resistant cement plaster base coat requiring only the addition of sand and water on the job site. All components in the manufacturing of PM CONCENTRATE WR meet the standards set forth in ASTM C-926.

USES

PM CONCENTRATE WR is the product of choice when a superior, water resistant, cement plaster base is desired. It has exceptional workability and the fiber reinforcing strands greatly reduce the possibility of cracking. PM CONCENTRATE WR can be used for new construction and renovation work.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Highly resistant to water penetration
A hard, durable surface
Excellent workability
Crack resistant
Fire resistant

COVERAGE

PM CONCENTRATE WR is packaged in 80 lb. bags and must be applied at a rate not to exceed 60 - 80 square feet per bag at 3/8" thick or 50 - 70 square feet per bag at 1/2"
thick. Coverage will vary due to application techniques and substrate conditions.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surfaces to be coated should be inspected by the contractor and any unsatisfactory conditions should be reported and corrected prior to the application of PM CONCENTRATE WR. All flashings, hangers, fasteners, trim or other fixed supports shown on the plans, should be in place prior to application. Dust, dirt or loose particles should be removed from concrete or masonry surfaces prior to application. PM CONCENTRATE WR should not be applied to surfaces that contain frost. Provisions should be made to keep PM CONCENTRATE WR at a temperature of 45°F - 100°F during application and for a period of at least 48 hours after application.

Adicote bonding agent must be applied to all poured concrete or smooth concrete surfaces. Control and/or expansion joints should be installed in accordance with ASTM C-1063 to alleviate cracking from building component movement, shrinkage or stress. Location of control joints must be determined by the designer.

MIXING

Measuring equal amounts of water and mixing for equal amounts of time from batch to batch will ensure product consistency from batch to batch. Use approximately 5 - 6 gallons of potable water and 180 - 220 lbs. of washed plaster sand (ASTM C-897) per bag. Start the mixing process by adding ? of the total required water to the mixer. Add the appropriate amount of PM CONCENTRATE WR, sand and then add the remaining ? of the required water. Mix for approximately 5 - 8 minutes to bring the material to a workable consistency. Allow the mix to set for 5 minutes, then remix and add additional water if necessary to achieve the desired workable consistency. Do not retemper the mix after this.

APPLICATION

Note: The effectiveness of PM CONCENTRATE WR depends upon proper application, curing and the conditions and preparation of the surface to which it is applied. Review Application Guidelines for substrate conditions and preparation. PM CONCENTRATE WR should be applied to wire lath by sections to a minimum of ½" thickness using sufficient pressure to form a good bond.

NOTE:
To avoid abrupt changes in the uniform appearance of the succeeding coats, PM CONCENTRATE WR must be applied to an entire wall or ceiling panel without interruptions.

The joining of wet product should be made at naturally occurring interruptions such as corners, control joints, or structure levels; otherwise, the stopping and starting joints may be visible through the finish texture.

Reference Premix-Marbletite application instructions entitled: "Base Coat Stucco Products" for specific applications to selected substrates.

CURING

Moist cure by lightly fogging or misting for 48 hours after application. Proper hydration requires sufficient water, favorable temperatures and time. Newly installed walls should be protected from hot/dry winds or excessive ventilation. The temperature of the walls must be maintained between 45°F - 100°F for no less than 48 hours after application.

LIMITATIONS

PM CONCENTRATE WR is a cementitious product, and as such cracking or efflorescence is not to be considered a product defect and is not warrantable.
If a texture is desired it must be applied to the brown coat after the initial set and prior to the final set. Do not apply texture after final set has occurred.
Due to the highly water repellant nature of this product, cementitious stucco finishes are not recommended for application to PM CONCENTRATE WR.

LIMITED WARRANTY

PM CONCENTRATE WR is covered by and subject to the terms and conditions of the Premix-Marbletite limited materials warranty applicable to the Premix-Marbletite system or products used. Contact Premix-Marbletite for complete details.
