DECKTEX is a two component,
polymer modified cementitious textured base coat designed
for use on interior or exterior cementitious substrates.
DECKTEX is formulated
to provide excellent bonding to new and existing cementitious
substrates.
DECKTEX is spray applied
to properly prepared cementitious substrates and then
coated with Deckote to create durable, aesthetically
pleasing high design decks, patios, walkways and driveways.

DECKTEX is packaged in
a unit consisting of 3 bags of Dry Mix and 1 pail of
Resin Mix. When blended together, it must be applied
at a rate not to exceed 500-750 square feet per unit.
Coverage will vary depending on the desired texture
and the porosity of
the substrate.
Patch, level or resurface as required to provide a
smooth substrate. Surface must be clean, cool, dry,
free of dirt, grease, scaling paint, release agents,
curing agents, special surface hardeners, efflorescence
or other foreign matter. Some surfaces may require power
washing prior to coating. If detergents, cleaners or
caustics are used, the surface must be thoroughly rinsed
prior to application. Surface cracks greater than 1/16"
must be patched with crack filler compound prior to
application. Refer to ASTM
D-4258 and ASTM D-4261 for complete details on preparing
cementitious substrates for coatings.
Measuring equal amounts of Resin Mix and mixing for
equal amounts of time from batch to batch will ensure
product consistency from batch to batch. DECKTEX will
require approximately 1 ? gallons of Resin Mix per bag.
Start the mixing process by splitting the pail of Resin
mix into ?'s. Slowly add one bag of DECKTEX DRY MIX
and mix with a drill and paddle for approximately 5
minutes to bring the material to a workable consistency.
Allow the mix to set for 5 minutes, then remix and add
small amounts of water if necessary to achieve the desired
workable consistency. Do not retemper the mix after
this.
A) Remove all rust, mildew,
mold, algae, fungus, dirt, oil, grease or other foreign
materials that could serve as a bond breaker.
B) Inspect the existing
substrate to make sure that all cracks are filled; all
loose material has been removed and that the substrate
is level.
C) To achieve a "splatter"
texture, fill a hopper gun; adjust the nozzle to the
desired pattern and spray on the DECKTEX.
It is not necessary to cover the entire area; approximately
75% coverage is typical.
D) DECKTEX
should be "knocked down" immediately after
it has been applied. Once the DECKTEX is dry, lightly
scrape the surface to remove any loose material.
E) Coat the DECKTEX
with Deckote Smooth or Sanded in the color of your choice.
Deckote is designed to be either roller or spray applied.
One coat is usually sufficient for full coverage, however
a second coat can be applied if desired. Refer to the
product data sheet for a full description of the Deckote
features and benefits.
Curing Time: Curing of
the DECKTEX is
dependent on the air temperature and relative humidity.
Under average curing conditions (70EF,
55% R.H.) DECKTEX
should be set within 8 hours. Heavy traffic or high abuse
areas may require 48 hours. As with all cementitious products,
28 days is required for complete cure.
Clean all tools and equipment with water while still
wet. Cured material can be removed mechanically or chemically.
DECKTEX DRY MIX must
be protected from moisture. Store off the ground in
a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight. DECKTEX
RESIN MIX must be protected from freezing and
extreme heat. Store at 40EF or above in tightly sealed
containers out of direct sunlight.
Apply only when surface and ambient temperatures are
40EF - 100EF and relative humidity is below 85% throughout
the application and drying time.
(Available upon request)
Occasional pressure washing between 500 and 1000 psi
should produce satisfactory results.
The effectiveness of this product depends upon its proper
application and the condition and preparation of the surface
to which it is applied.
